Welcome to One Car Garage, in which I choose a manufacturer, and you decide one single vehicle that they make or made (no matter how old, no matter how exclusive) to live with for the rest of your life. This is your only vehicle, and all expenses are paid for, including price of entry, insurance, gas, etc.
I had lots of fun yesterday with the crazy Italianess that is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but today we’re going to be honoring Patriot Day here in America by choosing from the brand that’s as American as !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . We’re going with Chevrolet.

Again, being back in America made this decision very difficult for me. I spent a lot of time perusing Wikipedia, and I even consulted with my roommate who happens to be a mechanic at a local Chevy dealership. I was able to narrow it down to two cars. Sedans, no less, which you may know that I irrationally protest. My first thought was to go with a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . A powerful car that is quite attractive in a subdued sort of way. What I ultimately decided to go with though, is essentially the (RWD) Impala SS’s spiritual successor. I’m going to go with the 2014 SS. While not officially available yet, there have been running prototypes and concepts. With more horsepower, more gear ratios and what looks to be more room, this car will be a little better suited as a lifer than the Impala.

I'm with you, not a huge Camaro fan and a Corvette would be impractical to have for the rest of my life. SS it is! Or a new Carpice, I'd take that too.

First off, bad choice.
Second off, my choice.

It's the only Chevrolet I like under all circumstances. The Cruze is missing something I can't quite put my hands on after a test drive, I don't do large trucks, forget the SUVs, and nothing from the company's history is interesting enough to me to live with it as a sole car.

We'll get to Pontiac eventually. :P

With a 409 and a 4 speed.

Corvair Greenbrier. You will find me, um, down by the river

I'm actually surprised no one's said it. Or maybe I'm just a cliche. 1969 Camaro SS. Painted in a purple so dark, you'd think it was black. I want one so bad!

I gotta go with the most overall usability in all ranges here, so I'm gonna choose...
2006 2500HD, 6.6 Duramax and ZF S6-650 6MT, 4x4 LT. It'll do everything from getting groceries to hauling the horse trailers and, being equipped with a diesel and the last true transmission offered in a GM fullsize, should last quite long enough.

Easy, 1969 Camaro RS/SS 396 (or an RS/SS with the full Pro-Touring treatment - an LS7, TR-6060 and IRS). This was my Z31 before I discovered the Z31. It still gets my stuff going A LOT.

This was definitely up near the top for me. I required more powwwaaaaaaa, though.

Chevy Luv, with maybe a duramax or something bigger swapped in

Hence why it will be down by the river...dont need power to drink 40's and fish (and live probably)

I'm honestly on the fence here, if I had to choose I'd have the new C7 (wait for the performance version though)
Just because it is so fucking gorgeous.
But I also have an unhealthy attraction to Corvairs. Specifically the convertible Corsa

Damn mate, that was my choice as well, what do I do now?
![]() 09/11/2013 at 15:20 |

just agree and bask in the awesomeness. Got to be quick on the draw

Corvair Greenbrier, I know that 505Turbeaux have already sad that. But it's the only Chevy I MUST have in my life at some point (sure, a '69 camaro would be nice but..)
I want mine lowered on bags tho' :)
![]() 09/11/2013 at 15:25 |

Yeah.. I guess so. I submitted the Greenbrier as well, there can never be to much Corvair Greenbrier.

never, wish I had one or a Corvan

I'm going to get flamed for loving these... but the 1970-1973 Camaro is by far the most beautiful Camaro (even more than the 67!) Cheverolet built.
Unlike other Camaros up until that point, it doesn't look like a half-assed attempt and it doesn't scream "I'm a less unique or interesting muscle car to compete with the Mustang! Love me too!"
It screams "I WILL FUCKING EAT YOU."
They came with a 402, essentially a bored out 396 (which I would take over the long-stroke 454 any day) and the legendary LT-1 in the Z/28, up from the 302 of the previous year. With a rear sway bar and some mods, they can actually handle somewhat decently for a Camaro. It's one of the only years that I think was better looking than the Firebird too.
My next choice is a much less unique C2 with a 327.

1963 Corvette Split Window coupe. Its only the most beautiful car made in the past 50 years........

Strictly a Chevy?
My issue with these is if this was going to be my daily driver, all year round, with no other cars available to me I need space. I'd love to say Corvette or Camaro, but they just don't have enough room.
Additionally, I'm just too damn used to modern conveniences that I can't see myself in an older car 100% of the time. As a second car, sure, but every single day? I can't.
So, from Chevy's lineup, a modern car with space, a manual, and fun to drive? Gonna have to be my Sonic

I'll back you up! For a long time my favorite camaros were the '69, third gen and fifth gen, but after seeing an early '70s camaro at a car show, I'm liking them more and more each time I see a nice example.

Chevrolet El Camino SS 454
Because 'Muricah! (I'm not American though)

They have the small proportions of a Mustang, with aggresiveness of a Challenger. If you look at Ford, Chrysler, and other company designs in 71-74 it really shows how innovative the design was. Ford straight-up copied it for the Torino and I believe that the dodge "sad face" grill was inspired by it too.
It was the 5mph bumper requirements that killed it though, and they killed it hard .
![]() 09/11/2013 at 16:09 |

Definitely. Out of the second gen I like '70-'73s only, with the split bumper.

A 1959 El Camino because I never seen one of these before in my life on the road.

Btw, this has to be the best to come out of oppositelock!
You might all be laughing at me for missing alot of the classics... But i'm from europe so i'm kinda careless about them old muscles. I have always adored the 90's impala for some unknown reason

Bro, I'm back, bro. And I ain't be driving no POS Civic anymore, bro. I got me a Chevy Cavalier, bro. AMERICAN MUSCLE, BROOOOOOOO. I didn't cut ties with Honda, though, bro. I got them to install some Very Tall Engine Cooling on the V8 turbine this car came with, bro. And I added all the custom parts I had on the rotary in the Civic to this car, bro. It's like a rotary turbine V8, bro. 2000 HP, BROOO! Even transferred over the fart can, err, race exhaust and GTR badges for MOAR POWERR, bro. It's got so much power I need 5 spoilers worth of downforce, bro. Smoked a Ferrari the other day, bro. Probably cause I got an automatic and can shift faster, bro. Don't need to double clutch when I got an automatic, bro. Good luck finding me, bro. The police in five different states can't keep up with the car, bro.

I am torn enough that it has to be between two. A 1966 Corvair Corsa, or, God help me, a 2013 Camaro ZL1.

This camaro or a 63 split window corvette.

I think I would take a gmt400 6.2L turbo diesel expedition build Suburban.
Last forever. Check. Looks great. Check. Utility...uh check.

ZL1 Camaro, because, well, listen to it:
And supercharger whine. Mmm, sweet, sweet gravy.
